General Strategy
- Mercy's staff is unique, seeing as it is the only primary weapon in the game that does no damage (besides melee). Her primary fire creates a healing beam, while her secondary fire creates a damage boosting beam. Whichever beam you choose to use will lock on to a nearby teammate and remain on that ally until switched to a different ally or toggled off.
- You do not have to look at whoever the beam is locked on to, allowing you to easily check for flanking enemies without breaking the healing or damage boosting connection on your teammate.
- Mercy's beam will linger on the recipient for 1.3 seconds after breaking line of sight or moving out of range. This is good to keep in mind if you need to hide or go behind natural cover.
- It is best to act as if damage boost is your primary fire, switching to healing beam as needed to get the most out of Mercy's value.
- Remember that Mercy's damage boost is applied as the shot is fired, not when they land. Team coordination is necessary to make sure you damage boost important abilities such as Roadhog's Chain Hook, Reinhardt's Fire Strike, Ashe's Dynamite, etc.
