General Strategy

  • Valkyrie is Mercy's (extremely underrated) Ultimate Ability. When activated, most of Mercy's abilities become greatly enhanced. In addition to being able to fly freely, Mercy's beams can now attach to multiple allies, her healing and damage boosting are both increased, her movement speed is increased, and she now has unlimited ammo in her blaster.
  • Although not as flashy as other Ultimate Abilities in the game, Valkyrie can be extremely powerful when used correctly.
  • Valkyrie should not be used unless you are winning the fight. Usually, the best time to activate it is when your team gets the first pick after the fight is initiated.
  • Unless the team desperately needs healing, stick to damage boost. If only one teammate needs healing, let the other support heal them and keep damage boosting the team to get the most out of Valkyrie.
  • Despite it being extremely fun to fly around in the sky, it is usually best to stay low and mostly behind natural cover if you can, especially against heroes like McCree, Solder: 76, and Widowmaker.
  • Ultimate tracking is extremely important when deciding when to use Valkyrie. For example, you probably don't want to use it if the enemy Soldier has Tactical Visor ready. This is something you want to practice heavily.
  • Maximizing the time your beam is attached to a teammate is necessary to get the most amount of charge for your Ultimate. You always want to have your beam on someone, and you want it to be doing something. Don't keep your healing beam on someone who is at full health, and don't damage boost someone who isn't doing damage.
